In a revolutionary move of sorts, New India Assurance has launched an exclusive global mediclaim policy. This will help customers get treatments outside the country as well as per the plan of the state-owned general insurance company. This will cover medical treatments such as heart surgery, cancer, neuro-surgery, bone marrow transplant and organ transplant across hospitals outside the country.
New India Assurance has already embarked on tie-ups with 99 global hospitals including leading names like the King’s College Hospital, Cedar-Sinai Medical Center and John Hopkins. The policy is named as the New India Global Mediclaim Policy and covers expenses on hospitalization that customers incur.
The entry age stands between 18-65 years for customers and the policy is readily available for individuals who have health insurance policies with Rs. 8 lakh and above as the sum assured. There are two plans within this policy. The first one covers expenses incurred on hospitalization across various medical centers and hospitals located in Asian countries. The second plan covers global hospitals and expenses incurred on hospitalization likewise.
The first plan for Asian countries comes with a lifetime medical coverage of $1 million. The global lifetime coverage offers insurance for a customer for $2 million. There is a 90 day waiting period for all these treatments. In case of non-breakage of the policy, it can be renewed for life.
