The largest bank in the country, State Bank of India (SBI) is offering several avenues to its customers for getting their bank accounts linked with Aadhar. These include branch visits, internet banking, SMS and ATM. The Government is expanding the Aadhar linking scope and the deadline is currently 31st of December, 2017. SBI customers who have already opted for the internet banking service can log in at www.onlinesbi.com and access the Link your Aadhar number link which is positioned under My Accounts which shows up on the left screen panel.
Using this link will enable users to choose the account number, enter in their Aadhar numbers and click on the Submit option. The customer will be shown the last two digits of their mobile numbers which are registered. Customers can also access SBI ATMs and once they have swiped their cars and entered their PIN numbers, they can choose Service-Registrations and then choose Aadhar Registration/Inquiry. They have to then choose the type of account and key in the Aadhar number. They have to confirm the same by entering it again. This will get the Aadhar number linked successfully to the customer’s bank account.
SBI customers can easily text their Aadhar UID from their mobile number which is registered with SBI. They have to text the number at 567676 in this format- UID (space) Aadhar number (space) Account number. There will be an SMS reply sent back in case the mobile number has not been registered or if the Aadhar has already been linked to the account. If the mobile number is registered, there will be SMS confirmation provided by SBI.
The Aadhar number can also be linked by visiting any SBI branch. A Letter of Request will be taken from the customer along with the Aadhar letter Xerox copy. Post verification, the number will be linked by the SBI branch. There will be an SMS sent to the registered mobile number of the customer with regard to the status of the entire procedure.
